Playing with Fire

About

A beautiful and talented country singer, Valerie Stevens, is determined to rise to the top of the charts. Having moved to Nashville at age 17, being all alone and with no guarantee of success, this spunky young lady worked her butt off waiting tables and taking any gig offered, while hoping for her big break. There was never any question in her mind that it would happen; it was only a matter of time. Ten years later, she is about to get her chance at signing with a major record label. However, as fate would have it, she witnesses a high profile murder and is immediately hit from behind. By the time she regains consciousness, the audition is over. Worse yet, she has a gash on top of head and can’t remember what happened. Unable to explain to her manager why she missed this important performance, Valerie returns to her lonely apartment. Thinking she has messed up big time, she feels her world crashing down around her. During the night, her memory returns and she frantically calls the police to report the crime. After finally convincing them she is telling the truth, the young lady is advised by the FBI to enter the witness protection program. The spunky country girl refuses, citing she has been given a second chance to perform for a major producer, and she refuses to blow it. Now it’s up to a handsome FBI agent, Patrick Schaffer, to protect her while she attempts to keep her hopes alive of becoming a Nashville sensation. Soon her very existence is threatened and she finds herself in the fight of her life. But her message to the Russian Mafia is this: Mess with this country girl and you’re Playing with Fire!

Praise for this book

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the twists

I love the twists, and when the reader starts to doubt who the bad guys are. This is a must read! You will be hearing more from the great writer Roger Grubbs, and you will be hearing more from Kate McRae as well. To see what Inspired Roger, go to [...]
