The Lady SEAL (SEALs Book 6)

About

There are two words every Navy SEAL longs to hear: Mission Accomplished! After completing the grueling thirty-month training, a team has been selected for an important rescue. Americans are being held hostage in a remote village in Colombia. To get there, they must travel the final leg of the journey by foot. Only one major obstacle troubles the twelve members of the team: an army of hundreds will immediately pursue them. Their fate lies in the skills of one man. His job? Take out the bridge, preventing the team from being overrun by a massive well-trained army. A mock replica of the overpass has been constructed for testing purposes. They soon find the task to be impossible with the limited amount of explosives they will be able to carry with them. With time running out, they are forced to consider calling in a demolition expert. But the men balk when they learn the best the Navy has to offer is a woman. When she refuses to reveal her secrets, they are forced to take her on the mission. Finally Chelsea Steele’s lifelong dream is within reach – to be called The Lady SEAL!

Praise for this book

5.0 out of 5 stars great book!
In Roger Grubbs' The Lady SEAL, Chelsea Steele, the novel's main character, has always dreamt of becoming a SEAL. When a specialized force of Navy SEALs is assigned an important mission, little do they know that a female will become their greatest attribute in completing their assignment. Throughout the entire novel, Grubbs gives very colorful and intriguing descriptions of each character, the struggles they face in the process of completing their mission, and how the mission is finally accomplished. Chelsea Steele is a strong-willed and forceful young woman. However, her most essential feature is that she is unafraid of others' opinions and being different. Surrounded by men, Chelsea feels that it is her duty to prove herself to be of the same SEAL quality as her male peers. She not only fights in combat, but she also has excellent strategy skills. After detonating a bridge simulation, Chelsea's hard work finally pays off - she has convinced her fellow teammates that she truly is SEAL material. Bart, the Commander of the SEALs, assigns Steele to the team's mission of rescuing twenty-three American women being held hostage in a secluded village in Columbia. The team must travel by foot to complete their mission and are nearly overrun by an army of hundreds, until Bart gives the order to blow up a bridge - the only entity between his team and his ample enemies. The twelve SEALs rescue the fearful women and begin to their journey back to civilization. Chelsea develops a unique bond with the captives and helps Bart to gain their trust. On their route home, the team faces several life-threatening challenges (including being attacked by rebels) and successfully overcomes them. Chelsea and Bart also develop a companionship and become very protective of one another; Chelsea even saves Bart's life on several occasions. Most importantly, thanks to Chelsea Steele, the team and the female victims return home safely and their mission is finally deemed accomplished. Overall, The Lady SEAL is a remarkable novel that contains both suspense, drama, and a love for the military. Roger Grubbs has done an excellent job in both his style of writing and grasping his readers' attention at all times. I highly recommend this outstanding work to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Lady SEAL
The Lady SEAL is by far one of the best novels I have read in a while. It was very intriguing from start to finish. The reason I chose this novel is my brother is in the Navy and I figured it would keep my interest. Normally books cannot keep my attention but I could not put this one down. As the author takes us through the adventure with the SEALs he gives vivid descriptions of the characters, surroundings, and the mission. I have always thought the Navy SEALS is no place for a woman. The reason is women like Chelsea are few and far between. While it would be hard to physically endure the mental aspect is what worries me. Chelsea proved herself to the guys of the SEAL team by blowing up the practice bridge. The commander, Bart, allowed Chelsea to join the mission to demolish the actual bridge.
I do believe Chelsea's presence helped the girls along their journey back to civilization. If someone held me against my will, like those men did, I would find it hard to trust any man. She showed the girls they had nothing to worry about by trusting Bart. Chelsea not only helped the girls; but she played a big role with Bart as well. She got him into predicaments, such as the snake, but even that turned out well. She saved Bart's life on multiple occasions in the jungle. When the rebels attacked Chelsea was always there with her knife to help him out. When they met up with the rest of the SEALs they had one last twist in their mission and of course they took care of that. In the end the SEAL team pulled it off and returned the girls to safety!

5.0 out of 5 stars bravo!!!
This book was very interesting. The way the author built up the suspense kept me engaged. I am not a reader, and I do not read unless I have to but I would not mind reading this book for a second time. Although the book was a love story in my opinion it also withheld subliminal messages. In today's society, society views males as the dominant sex while females are subordinate. As I was brought up, I was taught along with others that the male provides for his family. The man's presence gives a sense of security. Well in this case the captain was determined to be consider as a SEAL, although she was a woman. Note there has never been a lady SEAL before in actuality. As obvious as it is, men can be a bit stubborn at times. The SEALs' mission involved dismantling a bridge. If they could not disassemble the bridge, it could have possibly jeopardize the mission's outcome. The captain was the only demolition expert who could blow the bridge. She was a woman, therefore it was an issue with the commander at first. Knowing she was the only one who could get the job done, the commander finally asked if she would attend the mission. Since it was the only way the mission would be a success. Another subliminal message I depicted, was how the fact that change is alright sometimes. Also one has to believe and compromise at times. Even though the SEALs were outnumbered, they still fought and triumphed in victory in the end. Which leads me to the final message. Never doubt yourself in any situation despise the odds. The book could inspire someone who has doubts in their future. Or possibly inspire a middle school aged girl who might want to run for presidency of the U.S. Job well done! Standing ovation to the author! I absolutely loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK EVER!!!!
This book has to be one of the best books I have EVER read. Has to be a must read!! The book has constant action and always has you wondering what is going to happen next. The book is so easy to read you will find yourself reading half the book in minutes. The relationship between the SEALs is very interesting, but the relationship between Chelsea and the SEALs is even better. The author has definitely done his homework, from the SEALs sayings and relationship the SEAL team has with each other and the environment that is described in the jungle to the battle that happens between the army and Commander Bart and Chelsea. The author describes the events as if you where there. There is also an emotional side between Bart and Chelsea showing the soft side in the SEALs. I always found myself wanting Chelsea and Bart to get together. You can tell that the chemistry is there between the two from the fight between the two at a bar leading up to the fight with an anaconda in the jungle. The author tends to also bring respect to women in the book, from even having the SEALs train the women that they have to save. I would recommend this novel to anyone. Only comment I have would be is that I want a sequel. I even went on to see if there was a sequel to the novel on Amazon. Over all I would give this book a 10/10!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Lady SEAL
I like to read books about the SEALs, and I enjoyed this one very much. The story was interesting, will she be a part of the team or won't she, but especially when the action centered in the jungle. How do you know where you are if all the landmarks look alike? How do you carry out your orders successfully when the information given to you is flawed? What is the full story about the human trafficking? Lots of action, good characters, and engaging story. I recommend this book.

I am not a big reader; when I do read it is never for personal pleasure. But this novel did entertain me. First and foremost, I share the same first name as the Lady Seal, Chelsea. I also could relate to her in the fact she was a tougher and very determined female. I would have not by any means tried the tasks she did but I can connect with her strong sense of determination. She did more than just front line combat; she faces enormous diversity. I believe they wouldn't have been able to finish the first mission without her; not just because of her skills of tearing down the bridge. She could relate to the 23 women victims and she also kept Bart going .Her and Bart relationship was probably my favorite part in the whole novel. I believe they pushed each other to do better and made a great team.
But honestly, I did not like the way the novel ended. It's not that it left you hanging or everybody died. It was a good ending just not the one I want; maybe it is because I am a girl but I really wanted Bart and Chelsea to get together. I did not care that she "dropped the hammer" in the last mission, I wanted her and Bart to get married. But since this book was just written this year, hopefully soon there will be a Lady Seals 2. Overall, this was a very good read and showed a great mix of military, love and current worldly problems that this evil word faces today .I would tell others to read this book.
